  • Crowbar protects power supplies with variable output

Design idea that appeared on "Circuit Ideas" of Electronics World Magazine in November 2000 and won £50. The idea is to provide crowbar protection on a power supply with adjustable output voltage. The crowbar circuit is temporary disabled when user trying to adjust the output voltage and re-establish with the correct tripping level once the user had finish adjusting the output. The idea was later voted best in the second round of contest and won me a 4-1/2 digit digital multimeter worth £500.
